16 golfers battled the brisk and windy conditions, and the golf course seemed to dominate the players. Tricky greens are still the challenge to the golfers. Tim Steiner’s team and Jesse Hoffman’s (+1) team split the front nine match. Charlie Hawkin’s team and Hoffman’s (+3) team split the back nine match. Jesse Hoffman’s team won the match (+4).

37 golfers participated in today’s Wicked Wednesday. Steady wind and slick greens made scoring a challenge. The teams were very balanced and all 3 matches were split. Dirk Schultz’ team won the front (-1), Ian Elkin’s team won the back (+1), and Jesse Hoffman’s team won the match (+3).
     The total scores will be included on tomorrow’s update. Dirk Schultz had his best round of 2010, as he had 3 birdies and recorded a 1-under par, 71.

The Wednesday-evening league “Hafner League” will begin play on March 31.
You need to sign up by this Sunday, March 28, to be included in the Week #1 pairings.
The summer-long league continues throughout the spring, summer and fall months.
Entry fee is $60.00

If you want to participate in member tournaments or gang play this year, you need to have a current USGA handicap established. Cost is $35.00. See the Pro Shop for activating or continuing your handicap.

Non-paid handicaps will be discontinued on April 1.

40  players joined in the Freaky Friday competition. The weather and golf course were both very enjoyable. The teams split the pot as Chris Cantone’s team, Barclay Baille’s team and Chris Taylor’s team tied the front at even par. Tim Steiner’s team won the back (-3), and Taylor’s team won the match (+1).
     The new Chris Rhodes’ signup system is running better at each event.

SUNDAY, March 7, 2010

A rumor that a 6-player swim team being formed for 2k10, Bill “Aquaman” Kushay and Pat “Aquaboy” Pickett got an early start by taking the plunge into #7 lake on Sunday. Bill Kushay took the initial splash at 10:45AM, but only made it a partial dip. Pat Pickett hit the water at 10:55AM, and made an impressive, fully sub-mergered plunge. Bill received a 6.5 score, but Pickett won the early competition, scoring 10.0 by the judges.

With their effort and physical stamina, both players receive a full exemption on the 2k10 team and Pat Pickett will be the captain. Joe Wright will be the manager, as his efforts in pulling Pickett from the frigid water, shows great reactions.

All top courses have nicknames for golf holes, trees, hazards, etc., therefore at Beaver Creek, the lake at Hole#7 will now be named for “Aquaboy” Pat Pickett. It will be called “Pickett’s Pond”. Congratulations to Pat Pickett as he hit only one shot during his March 7, 2k10 round.

40 players enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day on the links. The course is in excellent shape. When the action concluded, Dirk Schultz’  team tied the front and won the total match. Jesse Hoffman’s team won the back match. Dave Daubach’s team tied the front match. A new electronic sign-in will be used in the 19th hole.
